Welcome to U.S. History II


Course Description

The students will study historical and major events that occurred in the United States starting from the 1850's up through present day events. The course will cover political, economical, social events, major wars, domestic and foreign issues and the expansion of the United States over the past 170 plus years.


First Topic

Civil War - 1861 - 1865

The students will study the causes leading up to the American Civil War, why was the civil war a war a firsts, the strategies, the major battles and leaders, the results and lasting affects of the Civil War.







Schedule for First Week of School



Wednesday - August 31st
  • Pass out Text books 
  • Summer Homework Assignment is DUE (ALL CLASSES click on Period 4 link below and do the one titled Civil War Assignment) It's the 3rd one
  • Discuss Summer Assignment
Period  4 


Thursday - September 1st

  • Take DDM - 50 Question Pre-Test (will be explained on first day of school)
  • Finish Summer Assignment
  • Passing out homework for both Friday and over the weekend

Friday - September 2nd

  • Begin Chapter 11 - Section 1 (Civil War)
  • Go over Homework Assignment on Civil War from Chapter 11 - Section 1
  • Assign homework for the weekend (will be passed out on Thursday 9/1)
  • Friday is a HALF DAY. Periods 3, 4, 5 & 6 ONLY

  • Introduce Chapter 11 - Sections 3 & 4
  • Hwmk - Read Chapter 11 - Sections 3 & 4 (pages 373 - 387) and 2 handouts


Thursday - September 10th (Day 5)

  • We will take a break from the Civil War and discuss the events of 9/11
