***This chapter will focus on the time period in the United States when despite the large economic and population booms and everything on the surface looked great in America, there was political corruption, corporate corruption and social injustices were widespread but covered up by America's progress.

Schedule for the Week - 12/7 - 12/12

***DECEMBER 7th  -  PEARL HARBOR REMEMBRANCE DAY***


On this day and date 73 years ago today(Sunday Dec 7, 1941), the Japanese launched 353 planes to conduct a surprise attack on the American military bases on the Hawaiian Island of Oahu specifically our naval base at Pearl Harbor. The attack began at 7:55am Hawaiian time and lasted about 90 minutes. When the attack was over the United States lost over 2,300 soldiers and sailors, another 1,140 plus military personnel wounded, about 325 planes damaged or destroyed and 19 ships damaged or sunk. This event forever altered/changed the course of American history and our role in world affairs.

***This chapter will focus on the lure of the west, the development of the west, the hardships of civilizing the west and the clashes between the U.S. government and the American Indians in the west. Who were the major people involved in this development, the famous events and the effects of this development.

The students will study the causes leading up to the American Civil War, why was the civil war a war a firsts, the strategies, the major battles and leaders, the results and lasting affects of the Civil War.





Course Description

The students will study historical and major events that occurred in the United States starting from the 1850's up through present day events. The course will cover political, economical, social events, major wars, domestic and foreign issues and the expansion of the United States over the past 170 plus years.
